Entain reports Eurovision results, showing a 23% rise in wagers.
The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest results have been announced by Entain, and Mae Muller is already the clear favourite.
Mae Muller, a UK entry, is the favourite to win the trophy, accounting for 17% of all Eurovision wagers made through Entain.
However, given that this year's Eurovision is being staged in the UK for the first time in more than 20 years, this support is not surprising.
In contrast, even though Sam Ryder entered the competition with strong odds, only 12% of supporters had faith in him last year.
"Every year, Eurovision brings millions of people together to celebrate music and take pride in their nation's culture, creating moments of excitement for fans worldwide," said Dominic Grounsell, Chief Commercial Officer of Entain.
"Entain is pleased to offer contest fans a platform to interact in novel ways, wager on their favourites, and, above all, enjoy themselves!"
Operators have started to provide a greater selection of TV and events betting options as a result of the growing popularity of events like Eurovision and Love Island in the betting industry each year.
Entain verified that Eurovision wagers have already risen by 23% this year after compiling data from UK companies including Ladbrokes and Coral.
Sweden has demonstrated the greatest support for their entry by a wide margin among all the nations competing this year.
With 43% of Swedish fans betting on her to win, Loreen, who won the 2012 Eurovision song contest with her song Euphoria, will make a comeback to represent the nation.
Italy is the second most patriotic nation behind Sweden, with 41% of Italian clients placing bets on their own nation to win.
It goes without saying that Eurovision is notorious for its upsets, particularly when the audience votes begin to come in at the end of the night. However, it should come as no surprise that Sweden's Lorren is a clear frontrunner at the early stages.
However, until Graham Norton declares the winner, nobody can be certain!
